According to Variety, today internet TV service provider Brightcove signed an agreement with Fox Entertainment Group, one of the four major US broadcasting companies, to provide them with an online video platform.

Under this agreement, Fox Broadcasting Network, FX and Speed have already started airing programs and are beginning to use Brightcove's technology to run ad-supported internet video channels.

Adam Berry, Vice Chairman of Market and Advertising at Brightcove said, "As soon as you see the big four broadcasting companies, none of them have individually adopted an internet TV platform yet - Fox is the first. This marks that the way of internet TV is moving towards mainstream society."

David Baron, Vice Chairman of Fox Digital Media said, "Brightcove's tools and services allow us to quickly and easily deploy broadband video on our websites, while we also maintain control over quality, brand experience, and content profitability." Brightcove does not see itself as a website offering services like YouTube or homemade video systems; they consider themselves another route.

Perhaps this is the difference between grassroots and elite routes, which way is more successful? At least now, it's the first time I've heard of Brightcove.

In the past, people were too reliant on media companies. With the development of internet technology, individuals' initiative has been unprecedentedly enhanced, and individuals can even create widely popular videos. Based on the inherent needs of a large number of netizens, YouTube has achieved unprecedented development and great success.

Now, Brightcove actively chooses the route of cooperating with traditional media, or is seeking another breakthrough. Traditional media can also enter the online video field by taking advantage of this opportunity.

We will wait and see whether Fox can seize a foothold in the online video field through this opportunity.
