Windows Live PhotoZoom Alpha: A Live Labs project powered by Silverlight (link requires a proxy to access)

Today is MS Live Day, and there is a lot of information about Live...

Kip said that Windows Live PhotoZoom is a new project from the Live Labs, but it's not visible on the Live Labs homepage. Has it not been updated yet?

This Alpha project comes from the concept development team of Ray Ozzie. It is based on Silverlight, network-based, and allows seamless photo zooming. Meanwhile, PhotoZoom also utilizes the technologies of its siblings Photosynth and Seadragon (see the article released today:).

According to Matt Augustine of the PhotoZoom development team, PhotoZoom is an experimental website that brings the zoom functionality first showcased at Mix07. Note that the alpha/beta versions of Silverlight available now do not have the zoom function of PhotoZoom, so the release of this Live Lab project will depend on when the update for Silverlight will be made public.

Even though it has not been officially released, the basic PhotoZoom already allows users to add photos through an upload tool or by importing from RSS/Atom Feeds, and can display them in thumbnail or full size. Once the processing is complete, the zoom function will be enabled.

Kip created a short video (the video quality leaves something to be desired) demonstrating the zoom operation, and his description was: smooth, fast, of course, this would probably depend on the internet speed. (Via)

Kip's video is on MSN Soapbox (the link is), domestic users cannot access it, please use a proxy to watch.
