After IPTV users in Shanghai finally exceeded 150,000 and IPTV services were launched enthusiastically across the country, policy obstacles in front of IPTV are expected to be solved in the near future.
At the "2007 Broadband World Forum Asia Conference" held by China Netcom yesterday, Zhang Xinsheng, the Deputy Director of the Ministry of Information Industry Department of Science and Technology, revealed to The First Financial Daily that the national standard draft for IPTV will be completed in August. As for when the official standard will be released, it still needs to solicit opinions and discussions fairly, justly, and openly from enterprises, schools, and scientific research units. After the approval process, it will be released by relevant standardization departments.
