Can humans beat the ultimate algorithm? Of course we can, because we have the ultimate weapon - the brain. A new name has been added to Google's list of challengers - Mahalo.
Search on Mahalo and you'll get a range of information about your search terms. In particular, this information was obtained after human intervention. In other words, Mahalo's algorithm is manual selection.
The founder of the site is Jason Calacanis, who is also one of the founders of Engadget.
Mahalo now employs 40 full-time editors who manually sift through search results. Their job is to manually sift through information from Google, Wikipedia, Digg, IMDB, etc., and put it into their own database. In view of this situation, Jason said that every innovation Google has made is a driving force for us, and we are standing on the shoulders of giants.
