Tom eBay's new C2C online trading platform will be online in July. Currently, Tom eBay is already carrying out relevant data switching work. Once officially online, the platform will be stripped from the original eBay China. At the end of last year, after taking over eBay's C2C (individual) business from eBay, the newly formed company - Tom eBay led by Wang Leilei, CEO of TOM Online fell into silence, leaving Alibaba's Taobao to shine alone in the domestic C2C market. However, this silence may soon be broken.
eBay was founded by William Tao in 1999, later acquired by eBay, and its users were transferred to the localized eBay platform - "eBay YiQiu" (www.ebay.com.cn), and the original domain name eachnet.com was also redirected to this platform.
The new C2C system began the first phase of data migration preparation on April 23. Correspondingly, the servers originally used by eBay YiQiu will also be moved to China in the near future.
According to insiders from eBay, currently the Chinese interface of the new trading platform is being prepared. The new Tom eBay trading platform will still charge a certain fee, but the specific details have not been determined yet.
In June, all employees of TOM Online who originally worked at CITIC Taylor Forbes will "migrate" to the office building of e-Bay YiQiu at Raffles City.
On December 20, 2006, eBay and TOM Online announced that they would jointly invest 60 million US dollars to form a joint venture Tom eBay, with eBay and TOM Online holding 49% and 51% shares respectively.
