An Incomplete List of Yang Guoqiang's and Country Garden's Charitable Activities
At the entrance of the Country Garden Group office building, there is a slogan. This is not a slogan encouraging everyone to make money or grow to a certain size, but one that emphasizes conscience, responsibility, and transparency: We hope society becomes better because of our existence.
Below is a list compiled by the Oriental Outlook Weekly from various sources detailing some of the main poverty alleviation and charitable work undertaken by the Country Garden Group:
* Personal donations by Yang Guoqiang amounting to 300 million yuan
In 2002, Chairman of the Board Yang Guoqiang personally founded the Guohua Memorial Middle School, a purely charitable, completely free, and high-standard school aimed at assisting excellent high school students who have dropped out due to poverty. Over five years, he personally donated 260 million yuan. Additionally, in 1997, Yang funded the establishment of the "Zhongming Scholarship," donating 1 million yuan annually thereafter, which was increased to 2 million yuan per year starting in 2006.
In 2006, he donated 25 million yuan to the Youcheng Entrepreneurship Poverty Alleviation Foundation for poverty alleviation efforts.
Every year, he donates 25 million yuan to support the Raindrop Plan organized by the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development. He also established a "National Training Base for Veterans from Impoverished Areas" with a plan to systematically train 10,000 veterans from impoverished regions each year during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period. Through training, these veterans are transformed into skilled industrial workers, ultimately achieving stable and permanent poverty eradication.
