Beyond the Great Wall,走向 world?

On September 20, 1987, Professor Qian Tianbai, known as the father of China's Internet, sent an email without a designated recipient. This was the first email ever sent from China. The entire content of the message was just one sentence: "Across the Great Wall we can reach every corner in the world." (越过长城,走向世界 - Overcoming the Great Wall, we can reach every corner of the world.)

The origin of the internet is rooted in a spirit of free and shared access, much like the Olympic spirit which proclaims "let politics step aside in sports," yet politics cannot untangle itself from either of these ideals, leading to complicated entanglements.

In my view, Professor Qian was truly a master of prophecy. In today's China, a massive project akin to the construction of the ancient Great Wall is underway — the building of a 'cyber Great Wall.' On the day it is officially completed, we may indeed need to overcome this bizarre wall to reach every corner of the world.

Fortunately, even the strongest version of the ancient Great Wall could not stop the Mongolian cavalry, and the same holds true for today's version.

During our cybersecurity class today, the teacher briefly explained the working principle of a certain software with the letter 'u'. I've used it before, and it turns out that the teacher uses it too! Hehe.
