Reporters learned yesterday that Baidu has officially started a large-scale website rating plan inside the company, which will gradually certify and rate 110,000 cooperative websites. This move is also regarded by outsiders as an important step to snatch market share from Google.

The number of Baidu Union member websites surpassed 100,000 in the past year, becoming the largest Chinese advertising union on the Internet. From the publicly available financial reports, cooperating websites earned over 70 million yuan through the union in 2006. After Baidu launched the Big Union certification plan, certified partners will receive a larger revenue share from Baidu.

It is understood that a large number of corporate websites and personal websites earn income by placing advertisements provided by Google or Baidu on their web pages, which has become an important way for many websites to convert traffic into income. (Reporter: Hua Wenhua)
