Methane engine

A plume of blue flame lit up the Mojave Desert on Jan. 16 (Video). What may look like just another rocket engine test is actually something unique: a methane-powered engine. Developing a methane engine has unusual significance for NASA in a time when liquid oxygen and hydrogen are the primary rocket propellants in use.
