The planet, named "Gliese 581c", is about five times as heavy as the Earth and is 20 light years from the Earth. It orbits around a red dwarf star called "Gliese 581". Among the approximately 200 planets outside the solar system that have been discovered so far, Gliese 581c is the one with the smallest mass. Besides, its orbit lies within a "habitable zone". If other conditions are also appropriate, there might be surface water and lives on it.
