The ranking for the 2007 Fortune 500 in the United States is based on corporate revenue in 2006, with Walmart leading the pack at $351.139 billion, marking the fifth time in the last six years that it has claimed the top position. Although ExxonMobil dropped to second place, oil companies still held three of the top five spots, with Chevron and ConocoPhillips being the other two companies. In 2006, the total revenue of the Fortune 500 companies in the United States was $9.9 trillion, an increase of 8.9% over 2005; net profit reached $785 billion, up 29% from 2005.
