The Great Firewall, also known as the Chinese Firewall or China National Firewall, refers to the general term for multiple network censorship systems established within the internet jurisdiction of the People's Republic of China. This includes relevant administrative censorship systems. Generally speaking, it mainly refers to a system composed of software and hardware such as computers and network equipment that performs automatic content review and filtering monitoring on the Internet in China.
Its English name, Great Firewall of China (which has an alliterative effect with Great Wall), is abbreviated as Great Firewall or GFW. With its widespread use, GFW has been used as a verb. "GFWed" refers to being blocked by the Great Firewall.
