In 1999, Wang Rong of Suzhou simultaneously served as the Deputy Director and Party Leadership Group Deputy Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Department. In 2000, he became the Director and Party Leadership Group Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Education Department, and concurrently served as the Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee for Education. With Xu Zongheng being relieved of his duties, Wang Rong, the former Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Committee, will take over as the Mayor of Shenzhen. Recently, the central government has approved the original Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Committee, Wang Rong, to replace Xu Zongheng and assume the position of the Deputy Secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Acting Mayor of Shenzhen.
