Analysis Report of Google Traffic Plunge in Half a Month - Fresh Sweet IT.Net

Fresh Sweet IT.Net is JarryJarry's personal brand. Although it does not have as many readers as Moonlight and some famous IT review blogs, Fresh Sweet IT.Net is a general IT blog that emphasizes the essence of sharing and still hopes to have a certain amount of traffic. Through continuous efforts, the daily visits to Fresh Sweet IT.Net have remained at around 1000 IPs. Most of this traffic comes from search engines, with Google being the majority.

However, since May 26th, the traffic from Google has become erratic, then maintained at a relatively low but surprisingly stable level for half a month, and began to recover today.

Previously, it was quite stable, with about 350 visits per day from Google before May 26th, and about 150 from Baidu. At that time, the indexed pages were 4800 for Google and 2600 for Baidu.

Baidu, by aligning with China’s national conditions and maintaining high harmony, occupies at least 80% of the domestic search market. And since Fresh Sweet IT.Net has a fully Chinese interface, it naturally targets domestic users. But why is the daily traffic from Google more than twice that of Baidu? My understanding is that Baidu's weight for blog sites is seriously different from Google's. Moreover, many characteristics of Baidu seem to be out of line with the industry standards of search engines. Even some internationally recognized SEO techniques don't work on Baidu. Therefore, after doing some SEO targeting blogs, there was no improvement in Baidu traffic, so I simply stopped paying attention to Baidu traffic. Anyway, the audience for IT content mostly consists of users who use Google.

Let's get back to the topic. From the chart, we can see that on May 26th, Google traffic started to plummet. There were 305 IPs on the 25th, 195 on the 26th, and only 39 on the 27th - a complete crash! For the next ten days or so, it remained balanced at this bottom line. The total daily traffic suddenly lost hundreds of visits. During this time, I had to start paying attention to Baidu traffic, which was also declining. However, on June 2nd and 3rd, there was a significant increase. Below is a comparison before and after the drop, with blue representing Baidu and brown representing Google:

I remember starting to look for reasons on the second day of the plunge. Google indexing was normal, all blog pages were normal, and testing the blog URL from various server locations showed no abnormalities. Logging into the Google Webmaster Tools did not reveal any causes for this incident.

Today is already June 11th. It's now 23:58. The traffic from Google has already recovered to the level it was at before the May 26th plunge. Hopefully, this plunging event will come to an end here.
