The latest report from The Wall Street Journal today indicates that the release date for the Palm Pre has been set for May 19. However, some industry insiders suggest that May 19 might not be the actual release date of the Palm Pre but rather the day when Palm and Sprint will open pre-orders for the device. Additionally, it has been reported that the Palm Pre will come with a wireless charger, making it the first mobile phone product that can be charged via a wireless charging pad. In fact, wireless charging technology is not new; it has already been used in some electric toothbrushes and electric shavers. This, however, marks its first application in a mobile phone. Phones with wireless charging capability do not require a dock charger but instead use a wireless charging pad to generate alternating current to charge the lithium battery inside the phone. Moreover, the Precentral website has leaked images of the Palm Pre's packaging and user manual. It is reported that the Palm Pre package will include one phone, a microUSB data cable, a pair of stereo headphones, a travel charger, a battery, and a phone pouch.
