Pu Songling (1640-1715), styled Liu Xian, also styled Jian Chen, with a pseudonym of Liu Quan Scholar, and his studio named Liaozhai, was born in Pujia Village of Zichuan. He was born at the end of the Ming Dynasty and died in the early Qing Dynasty. He failed the imperial examination all his life, and made a living by teaching, becoming an aged tribute student in his later years.
