[Photo Gallery] Lightning Hybrid LH4 Appears at Denver International Auto Show

The LH4, a hydraulic hybrid vehicle with an astonishing fuel economy of 100mpg, features an ultra-lightweight carbon fiber body and 240hp, accelerating from 0 to 96km/h in just 5.9 seconds. The LH4 is a four-wheel drive hybrid car equipped with a 90hp high-efficiency biodiesel engine, a 150hp hydraulic motor, and a battery system. Unlike the TOYOTA Prius, which generates and stores electricity through braking into its battery, the LH4 hydraulic hybrid system stores energy in a pressure vessel, releasing it only when acceleration is needed. "We have developed a unique hydraulic biodiesel hybrid vehicle and are applying for a patent; this car demonstrates the efficiency of thermodynamics and hydraulic systems," said Dan Johnson, CEO of Lightning Hybrids.
