OLPC occasionally brings out one or two for display when in a good mood, but now they are ready to go into mass production! The production plan scheduled to kick off in July is expected to churn out five million of these drool-worthy little gadgets. However, the actual number that will be distributed won't be as many: it's estimated that in the first phase, 2,500 units will be sent to Brazil, Uruguay, Libya, Rwanda, Pakistan, Thailand, as well as Ethiopia and the West Bank. Up next on the waiting list are Indonesia and a few other countries. We're not sure if the yo-yo we saw earlier has become an integrated part of the design, but there’s nothing wrong with the original hand-pull cord either. Regardless, OLPC is finally here, and these countries are already prepared to shell out money for their educational initiatives — which is always a good thing, isn’t it?
