Since the release of VISTA, IT news outlets have been inundated with commentary on this "extravagant bet" by Microsoft that took five years to come to fruition. Positive and negative news has flooded in, making it hard to distinguish fact from fiction.
Not long ago, many netizens reported encountering a "blue screen at the fourth password digit" phenomenon (when entering the fourth password digit, the system crashes with a blue screen) while running QQ under VISTA. This is probably Microsoft's "first" blue screen since launching XP and claiming "never blue screen again." Coincidentally, there is an interesting relationship between QQ and VISTA: QQ is the most mainstream instant messaging (IM) software in China, and Microsoft owns both VISTA and "Windows Live Messenger (WLM or MSN)," which holds the second largest share of the domestic IM market. Meanwhile, Tencent, the developer of QQ, is aggressively attacking the high-end market dominated by WLM, and Microsoft is not willing to back down either, as it dreams of taking the top spot in China's IM software market.
