On Friday, I finally watched the popular movie that everyone's been talking about. Then on Saturday, I spent the whole day reading the original novel. The movie has been altered quite a bit. For example, the guy's name isn't Jamal, Samia isn't his brother, and he doesn't have ties to the mob. He wasn't raised in the slums either, but rather in a church; the girl he likes is indeed a hairdresser, but he didn't meet her in an orphanage; this guy wasn't confessing in the police station, but rather confessed under questioning by his lawyer, and so on. Anyway, the movie reflects the image of India's slums more than the book and is more entertaining.
