On January 13, 2009, CNNIC released the "Statistical Report on the 23rd China Internet Network Development Status." The latest report shows that by the end of 2008, the total number of web pages in China exceeded 16 billion, an increase of 90% compared to 2007. The number of PHP web pages was the highest, ranking first, and PHP web pages have the widest range of applications.

The number of websites in China, i.e., websites with domain name registrants located within mainland China (including those connected domestically and internationally), reached 2.878 million, a growth of 91.4% compared to 2007, making it the fastest-growing year since 2000. The growth rate of web pages is basically in line with the growth rate of websites.
