The Daily Show (now known as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) is a satirical talk show focusing on political content, produced and broadcasted by Comedy Central in the United States. It has won the Peabody Award and Emmy Awards for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series multiple times. The show first aired on July 22, 1996, hosted by Craig Kilborn. In 1998, Jon Stewart replaced Kilborn as the host, and his addition turned The Daily Show into one of the most satirical political talk shows on American television. The program gathers important news from major media outlets across the country every day, such as Fox, CBS, and CNN, selects representative news items for commentary, features live guests discussing with the host daily, and invites celebrities to participate in the show. The Daily Show airs four episodes weekly, recorded live at 6:30 PM from Monday to Thursday, and broadcasts at 11 PM Eastern Time and 10 PM Central Time.
Host Introduction:
Jon Stewart was born in November 1962 in New Jersey. He has won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program nine times. As a satirist, actor, writer, and television producer, he initially hosted "Short Attention Span Theater" on Comedy Central, followed by hosting his own show "The Jon Stewart Show" on MTV. At the same time, Jon also hosted another MTV program titled "You Wrote It, You Watch It." In early 1999, Jon officially took over The Daily Show and concurrently served as its producer. The show and Jon became famous for their satirical criticism of the Bush administration and won the Emmy Award in 2005. Although it is difficult to define Jon's satirical style, in a December 19, 2006 episode, Jon described himself as a "downtown libertarian."
