The fundamental concepts of HTML were formed in 2003, and later the W3C became highly interested in the HTML draft developed by the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG). The developers of this group came from Apple, Mozilla, and Opera. In 2007, the W3C working group was officially established, primarily focusing on the development of the HTML 5 specification. The development is still ongoing and is expected to be released in 2012.
