Tencent QQ will achieve interconnection with China Mobile's Feixin.

Tencent announced yesterday in Hong Kong that it has reached a cooperation agreement with China Mobile regarding the chat and friendship services on Mobile Dream Network. Both parties will jointly develop mobile instant messaging (IM) technology, and in the future, China Mobile's Feixin users and Tencent QQ users will achieve interconnectivity. After six months, Tencent will "adopt out" its own mobile QQ users to Feixin.

"The cooperation refers to the interoperability between Feixin's mobile terminal users and Tencent QQ users, meaning that by activating the Feixin QQ (tentative name) service, users can check the online status of their QQ friends via text messages and conduct information exchanges," Dong Bo from Tencent's Investor Relations Department told reporters. When asked if this cooperation implies that Tencent will take over Yitong Wireless's role in co-developing Feixin with China Mobile, Dong Bo believed that this cooperation is unrelated to the aforementioned event.
