The Toronto Police announced the official launch of a new sub-website called "Homicide Squad," which, in my view, cleverly taps into people's fascination with shows like "CSI" to engage the public in assisting with certain matters. On this website, apart from the usual "list of wanted criminals" and "recent public safety statistics" that most police departments like to post online, what’s unsettling is that it also directly publishes "murder cases." Each case provides a detailed account of the events, including when the body was discovered, who reported the crime, who the witnesses are, estimates of when the incident occurred, when it was discovered, who has been questioned so far, and details of their statements... It’s rumored that surveillance footage may also be released depending on the circumstances.
