Asian Games, the full name of which is Asian运动会, is a regional large-scale comprehensive games recognized by the International Olympic Committee. It is hosted by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). It is not only the largest and highest-level comprehensive sports event in Asia, but also represents the overall level of sports in Asia. The predecessor of the Asian Games was the Far Eastern Games and the West Asia Games. It is held every 4 years, alternating with the Olympics, lasting for 16 days. The first Asian Games were originally scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India in February 1949, but were postponed until 1951 due to unforeseen circumstances, and up to 2001, it has been held for 13 sessions.
The competition events of the Asian Games are mostly Olympic events, but there are no strict regulations like in the Olympics. In addition to some widely popular events such as athletics, swimming, basketball, volleyball, football, etc., which must be included, the host country can appropriately add events based on its own conditions and sports technical level.
