Synopsis:
This film is one of the strangest works in cinematic history, blending live-action with animation. It is adapted from an autobiographical work by the infamous Marquis de Sade. This bizarre masterpiece is vulgar, filled with scenes of rape, surreal, and highly satirical. In a wildly absurd manner, it portrays the French Revolution as seen through the eyes of the Marquis de Sade. All actors in the film wear exaggeratedly large animal masks, and all dialogues are dubbed later by the actors. Some scenes were shot using claymation techniques; for instance, the Marquis's comically grotesque penis has a human face, which is the only human face shown in the entire film. The actor portraying the Marquis wears a dog's face, the deranged prison warden has a rat's face, the woman sports a cow's head, and the priest has a camel's head... The entire film feels like a wildly unconventional puppet show.
