Ou embroidery is one of the six famous embroideries in China, also known as painting curtain. It started in the Tang and Song Dynasties and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the third year of the Xianfeng Period of the Qing Dynasty (1853), there were professional embroidery shops in Wenzhou. During the Guangxu Period, Ou embroidery was exported to Europe, America and Nanyang. In the 5th year of the Republic of China (1916), an embroidery bureau was established in Wenzhou, and there were embroidery societies in Fuguan Street, Wuma Street, Daluo Bridge and other places in the urban area. The embroidery works of early artists Cai Mo Xiao and Jin Jing Zhi had been exhibited in Panama, Canada and the United States. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Wenzhou Embroidery Society was established in the urban area, gathering talented people from all over.
