July 30, the reporter learned from TCL Corporation (hereinafter referred to as TCL) that, as a member of the Chinese Blu-ray HD-DVD or CBHD Alliance, three optical disc player manufacturers, namely, TCL, Xinke, and Tsinghua Tongfang, have produced 6,000-7,000 disc players based on the CBHD standard, which will be launched for display in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. The price is set at less than 3,000 yuan.
A vice president of TCL told the China Times that this is just an initial small-scale trial, and there will be a large-scale launch by mid-September.
