The British academic journal Nature reported that the Stanford University researchers have developed the world's first computer based on carbon nanotransistor technology, which has been successfully tested. This indicates that in the future, humans may be able to摆脱 dependence on silicon transistor technology when developing new computer devices.
Max Shulaker, co-author of the Stanford project research team, said: "This is the most complex electronic device ever produced using carbon nanotubes. There are many very creative applications of nanotechnology, but people have never thought that this technology could be used in such a practical and useful way."
The first nano-computer developed by Shulaker's team only used 178 transistors, but the device can only run an operating system that supports simple functions such as counting and sorting.
