The world's first digital camera

This beast, invented by Steven J. Sasson in 1975, weighed eight pounds (3.6 kg) and was about the size of a toaster. You can see on the outside of the machine a cassette tape, that's where the pictures were stored. The camera resolution was... 0.01 megapixels, and it took ... 23 seconds to save an image to the tape! The original picture is larger, you can see much more detail, including the row of AA batteries hidden in the middle.
