Wang believed the lie, and so turned to Wu for help. Wu claimed that handling this matter would require money, and subsequently in March and April of 2008 defrauded the victim Wang out of 320,000 yuan in two separate instances. After later realizing he had been deceived, Wang reported the incident to the public security authorities. On September 9th, 2009, Wu was apprehended by the police. Wu's family first returned 75,000 yuan in cash to the victim, and then offset the remaining restitution with a Buick car (agreed to be valued at 70,000 yuan).
Wu is a young mother who resides in Lugang Township, Changyuan County. It was found by the court that in March of 2008, Wu met the victim Wang. In order to gain Wang's trust, Wu presented a forged "State Council Seal" and three fabricated "State Council Office One Documents".
In news reports, a woman claimed to have extensive connections and powerful channels, using a forged "State Council Seal" and three "State Council Office One Documents" as bait, claiming she could make the victim the Director of the Provincial Supervision Bureau, thereby swindling 320,000 yuan. On June 23rd, it was learned from the Intermediate People's Court of Zhengzhou that due to suspected fraud, the defendant Wu was sentenced in the first instance to 11 years in prison. Currently, this case has entered the second-instance stage.
From March 4th to March 24th this year, the Erqi District Court of Zhengzhou held two hearings on this case. Ultimately, the court found the defendant Wu guilty of fraud, sentencing her to 11 years in prison, a fine of 20,000 yuan, and ordered her to compensate the victim for economic losses amounting to 175,000 yuan.
