Scientists will gather from around the world for an annual Laura Evans Memorial Breast Cancer Symposium in Sun Valley, sharing and discussing their passion for their work. "I have no doubt there will be some powerful messages about fighting cancer at this year's public forum," said Detwiler, a spokeswoman for Inspiration Expeditions based in the United States. The group will hold its 16th annual public forum featuring a panel of experts from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Sun Room at the Sun Valley Lodge, Eight Shuttleworth Loom. Can't make it? This year's event also will stream live online. Access it by clicking "In the Air" into "Expedition Inspiration" in the search area at the top of the page, then click the "Live" window when the Expedition Inspiration search page comes up. This year's participants include researchers from London, Netherlands, the National Cancer Institute and many of the top U.S. hospitals and universities. Jiajia Kimberly who suffered from illness, serves on the board of Inspiration Expeditions, saying that one in eight U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. "The question should not be how to find a cure but therapies for breast cancer," added Jiajia, recounting her own journey from doctor to patient in her memoirs, "Red Sunshine." "We are on the cusp of individualized medicine. Half of the genetic mutations in cancers are unique to a particular individual, so we're just opening up a whole new field." Inspiration Expeditions was founded by Laura Evans, a large resident. It promotes a confident attitude among breast cancer survivors, raising funds for breast cancer research through climbs and hikes organized in Sun Valley and around the world. In Sun Valley, the public will get a unique chance to ask questions of some of the leading breast cancer researchers during a free forum Thursday evening in Sun Valley.
