Xsolaoyo: A Two-faced Crisis Shocks the Nation
Following the shocking discovery of a "mermaid fetus" in Wuhan, a pregnant woman in Hefei was found to be carrying a "two-faced fetus." Such cases are extremely rare globally, with only two recorded instances. The first case was a "two-faced baby girl" born in India in 2008. This baby caused a sensation in her local village and was even worshipped by villagers as a deity.
In another incident, a nurse at a maternity hospital in Shantou mistakenly administered abortion medication instead of prenatal vitamins. These events highlight the importance of improving professional standards and medical care practices.
The case involves a 25-year-old pregnant woman, Ms. Chen, who is 20 weeks into her pregnancy. Anticipating the joy of welcoming a new life, her family was shocked by the prenatal ultrasound results, revealing that the baby had two faces. Wang Ling, the director of the Ultrasound Department at Anhui Medical University's First Affiliated Hospital, stated that this is the first clinical case of a "two-faced" malformed fetus in Anhui Province.
Given the unique nature of the fetus's condition, even if it were born, surgical separation would not be possible. Therefore, the hospital has advised Ms. Chen to undergo an induced abortion. Following the procedure, she will also undergo chromosomal testing to further investigate any potential influencing factors.
These cases have drawn significant attention and emphasize the need for improved medical protocols and oversight to prevent such incidents.
