Uncategorized Christians Welcome by Joe Klein | @joeKleinTIME | August 30, 2010 | + Tweet Freedom of religion means that these fellows have the right to establish a shop in the vicinity of Ground Zero, too. My hope is that when they get here, and begin to sample our raucous cosmopolitan morality—and maybe actually meet some of their Muslim brothers and sisters—they will begin interreligious kumbaya-singing festivals. I mean, life in real America—my beloved city New York, the most melted part of the melting pot—tends to promote this behavior. By the way, Glenn Beck—whose ignorance of Jesus's teachings, especially the Beatitudes, seems profound—has the temerity to proclaim (unprovoked) and question Barack Obama's religious conviction? I mean, as a member of a sect, Christian Louboutin Denmark, that has been vilified and is still subject to deep prejudice, doesn't Beck get how tight that is? (See Michael Scherer's piece for an example of anti-Mormon bias.) If Jesus were around today, he might say that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a tele-evangelist to enter the kingdom of heaven.
