A Cuban elderly woman named Juana claimed to be 127 years old, making her the oldest person in the world. However, relevant institutions stated that she had falsely reported her age. According to reports, the Cuban elderly woman Juana claimed to have been born in 1885. If this were true, then she would be the same age as the Statue of Liberty in the United States and 12 years older than the Guinness World Record holder for the oldest person, American Cooper, who was 115 years old. However, staff members from the Gerontology Research Organization believed that Juana had altered her age. Investigators from the organization stated that the birth certificate presented by Juana looked more like it was from the 1950s rather than the late 19th century. The investigators also noted that Juana did not appear to be of such an advanced age because she could walk, stand, and talk, which did not seem possible for someone who was 127 years old.
