In June 2010, after the completion of the transformation of intelligent control water saving system, the bathhouse in Zone C of Heilongjiang University began formal operation. The bathing water-saving card will be used as a student bathing consumption card for timed charging.
The bathing water-saving card charges according to the running water time, at a rate of 15 cents per minute, with timing accurate to the second. According to data obtained from repeated experiments, each showerhead releases nearly 8 kilograms of water per minute, and 80 kilograms of water output in ten minutes is sufficient to meet the normal bathing needs of students. Some students take shorter showers and use less water, or just rinse off in the summer. Compared to the previous charge of one yuan and fifty cents for every shower, this timed and measured charging method is much more economical.
The purpose of introducing the intelligent control water-saving system by the school is to use advanced technological means to change the way materials are consumed, thereby changing the past habit of wasting water, and achieving the effect of water conservation. For this reason, the school invested more than 300,000 yuan, installing water-saving control systems in places such as the swimming pool in Zone A, the swimming pool in Zone C, and the bathhouse in Zone C. It is expected to save 2 million yuan annually on various costs including water, electricity, and coal.
