After conducting a web search, our reporter found that the images of fireworks shown in the exposé first appeared online on February 2. A reporter from Hunan Online called this "Jingwen Gas Station" located in Xidong Town Development Zone, Zouping County, Shandong Province. A worker who claimed to have just started working at the gas station confirmed that it was indeed true that fireworks were set off in the workplace during the Lantern Festival period, but they were not set off by the gas station employees, rather by villagers from a neighboring village. However, the worker also admitted that when the fireworks were being set off, there were on-duty gas station employees present.
When the reporter requested to interview the gas station's person in charge, the worker refused to disclose any other relevant information, citing his status as a new employee and lack of knowledge about the situation.
