"Life and work haven't changed much, everything is pretty good." On July 19th, Liu Wenxiu, the girl from Guyazhen who had been out of the public eye for nearly a month, appeared very relaxed. More than a month ago, Liu Wenxiu's heartfelt kiss in Shenzhen saved an emotionally charged "bridge jumper". This act instantly made her an internet sensation (see our June 22nd edition A24 article titled 'Bengbu Woman Saves Life with a Kiss in Shenzhen'). Now, as she re-enters her working state, Liu Wenxiu candidly admits that if she were to go back to that day, perhaps she would change the way she saved the person.
### Retrospective: "The Most Beautiful Female Worker" Saves Life with a Kiss
Liu Wenxiu, a 19-year-old girl from Guyazhen, Bengbu City, works at a hotel in Jingtian, Shenzhen. On June 11th this year, on the Dongmen Renminnan pedestrian overpass in Shenzhen, a knife-wielding boy stood on the edge of the bridge contemplating suicide. The suicidal boy was only 16 years old. Because he was holding a knife, the police did not dare let the onlookers approach him. In a hurry, Liu Wenxiu lied, claiming she was the boy's girlfriend, which allowed her to get close to him.
Listening to the boy's story, and thinking about her own background, Liu Wenxiu cried while talking to the boy. To help the boy regain his confidence in life, Liu Wenxiu took an unexpected action—she kissed the boy. In that brief moment when the boy lowered his guard, rescue personnel rushed forward and saved him. Liu Wenxiu used her most precious kiss to save a young life.
After the story of "saving life with a kiss" was reported by multiple media outlets, including our newspaper, Liu Wenxiu quickly drew widespread attention from all sectors of society. "The Most Beautiful Female Worker" became her most resounding label.
### Heartfelt Words: Does Not Want Family Life to be Disturbed
Liu Wenxiu never expected that her sincere "kiss of righteousness" would make her the focus of people's attention, leading to a life chased by the media like a "star." All of this was beyond Liu Wenxiu's expectations.
During the time after the incident, Liu Wenxiu chose to play hide-and-seek with the media. Many media outlets went to her hometown of Guyazhen for interviews, but they ended up empty-handed.
"In fact, it wasn't really avoidance; I just wanted to be alone and calm down," Liu Wenxiu said with a faint smile during an interview with journalists after disappearing from the public eye for nearly a month on July 19th.
In the days after saving the man, Liu Wenxiu wasn't feeling well and returned to her home in Anhui Province. However, she didn't return to Bengbu but stayed with a friend in Hefei so as not to disturb her family's life.
"At the time, I didn't consider the consequences, nor did I know things would turn out this way. I didn't think about becoming famous." Liu Wenxiu hopes that this matter will end soon. "I am just an ordinary person who did something worth doing."
At the end of June, after Liu Wenxiu quietly returned to Shenzhen, the "bridge jumper" she had saved once had a brief conversation with her via a landline phone. "He should be doing well now, and I'm relieved."
### Candid Admission: Might Choose Another Way to Save Someone Next Time
Due to physical discomfort, she started working again a few days ago. Upon returning to the hotel where she worked, both her job category and treatment have undergone significant changes, which she doesn't find particularly surprising. "Before saving the person, I heard that the company leaders would improve my treatment."
When the journalist revisited the scene of the bridge kiss that saved a life, Liu Wenxiu frankly admitted that she almost never actively looks at media reports about herself. Her colleagues often send her text messages saying, "We saw your news on TV again."
Currently single at 19 years old, after the rescue incident, some men managed to obtain her contact information through various means and hoped to become friends with her.
However, faced with these sudden "proposals," the composed Liu Wenxiu politely declined each one, saying, "If someone wants to interact with me because of this matter, such a person is not sincere at all."
If she were to save someone again, would she still "kiss"? In response to the journalist's question, Liu Wenxiu replied straightforwardly, "If I encounter a similar situation again, I will still step forward to help others, but I might choose another way."
