Not long ago, the newly released Apple MacBook Air is only 4mm at its thinnest part. With this weight, the Air effortlessly claimed the title of the world's thinnest notebook. Subsequently, Lenovo launched its top-tier product, the ThinkPad X300, which also features a 13.3-inch LED screen. Weighing only 1.33kg (including a 3-cell battery but excluding the optical drive), it became the world's lightest and thinnest full-featured 13.3-inch notebook (note the qualifiers). For products that strive for extreme lightness and thinness, every millimeter and every gram matters. Even though being one millimeter thicker or one gram heavier would not significantly affect the comfort of the product, it represents an unyielding pursuit of perfection, which allows no room for carelessness. Someone disassembled the X300 into eight parts, labeling the weight of each component. It is not hard to see that even small accessories like memory sticks and screen connection cables are accounted for, indicating that the X300 was indeed designed with meticulous attention to detail.
