Our reporter (Xue Changming, Ma Ming) - On September 30th, our newspaper reported that a man surnamed Ma from Linxia had nearly 10,000 yuan in cash taken by a stranger due to an operation error on the ATM deposit and withdrawal machine at the Zhongshan Road branch of the Agricultural Bank of China in Lanzhou. While Mr. Ma was extremely worried about this, the father of the young stranger was also looking for him everywhere, hoping to return the money his son had taken to the rightful owner.
On the morning of October 13th, after returning to Lanzhou from Chongqing, Mr. Ma rushed to the same Zhongshan Road branch of the Agricultural Bank of China in Lanzhou where the incident happened. He learned that the youth who took 9700 yuan that day was accompanying a woman there to conduct business. When the man took the money, the woman was withdrawing money from the ATM. Through her transaction records, the bank conducted a thorough investigation and found out that the woman was a sophomore student at a university in Lanzhou, and they obtained her contact information.
Upon hearing this news, Mr. Ma thought it was unlikely that the woman would know the whereabouts of the young man who took the money since she might be involved with him. With a trial mindset, Mr. Ma contacted the female student that afternoon, but unexpectedly, her first words to him were: "Are you the one who lost the money? If you hadn't come, I would have gone to the bank!" According to the female student, the young man who took the money that day was her friend Zhang Mou. Zhang is from Minqin County and, after taking the money, he went straight home fearing that Mr. Ma would catch up with him demanding the money back. When Zhang's father saw the sudden amount of money his son brought home, he immediately became suspicious. After learning that the money was "stolen" by his son from the bank, Zhang's father quickly confiscated the money and temporarily sealed it. At the same time, Zhang's father told the female student that if anyone inquired about this matter, she should give them the family's address and phone number, asking them to come and retrieve the money as soon as possible.
But more than ten days passed without any sign of the rightful owner. Thus, Zhang's father decided to personally go to Lanzhou to find the bank where his son had taken the money, intending to hand over the money to the bank for safekeeping until the owner claimed it. However, just before Zhang's father set off, he suddenly received a call from the rightful owner, Mr. Ma. After verifying the basic details, Zhang's father repeatedly apologized to Mr. Ma on the phone and hoped he could come to collect the money as soon as possible. Around 4 p.m. that afternoon, Mr. Ma, full of joy, immediately drove to Minqin.
