In Daqing, there was a man who recruited three men under the guise of taking on apprentices. These men were constantly by his side, following his orders and attending to his daily needs, including one apprentice who was made to provide him with sexual services. More absurdly, in order to cure a woman who was believed to be carrying bad luck, he ordered his apprentice to have sexual intercourse with her. Eventually, the incident was reported by the woman. In February this year, all four members of the master-apprentice group were sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment for committing rape.
Last summer, Yang Yanmei, a 24-year-old woman living in Daqing, had been in low spirits and her business was not profitable. A good friend told her: "This is your birth year, maybe it conflicts with something, you should see a shaman!" After some inquiries, Yang Yanmei learned about a shaman named Sun Hong who was very skilled at treating such conditions, so she sought his help.
On August 16, 2011, after several detours, Yang Yanmei found Sun Hong's candle shop. After explaining her situation, Sun Hong asked Yang Yanmei for her date of birth and then took out several copper coins to divine for her. Shortly thereafter, Sun Hong said that Yang Yanmei was carrying too much bad luck, which was affecting her mood and business. If left untreated, it could endanger the health or even life of her family members.
Upon hearing this, Yang Yanmei anxiously asked Sun Hong: "Master, you are so accurate, now my mother is already sick, can my condition still be cured?" Sun Hong confidently replied: "If it were someone else, they really wouldn't be able to help you." Hearing this, Yang Yanmei was very pleased and immediately asked what method could solve her problem. Sun Hong gave her instructions and told her to come back the next day.
On August 17, 2011, Yang Yanmei bought candles, paper money, and condoms, and also paid 300 yuan as treatment fees. She asked Sun Hong: "Master, I still don't understand why you asked me to buy condoms?" Sun Hong said: "The bad luck on your body is too heavy, only by having sexual relations with a strange man can you remove this bad luck and cure your disease. This is for your 'ritual cleansing'."
Sun Hong instructed his two apprentices, Yin Qiang and Wu Ming, to have sexual intercourse with Yang Yanmei in his bedroom. After the "ritual cleansing," Yang Yanmei returned home and told her family about the process. Her brother realized that this was not treatment but rather his sister being raped by several people. Subsequently, they reported the case.
Sun Hong, originally from Jiangsu, suffered from mental illness due to heartbreak years ago. After treatment, although his mental illness improved, he began claiming that spirits possessed him. He frequently told others that he could see "spiritual illnesses" and eliminate misfortunes for those with a connection. Yin Qiang, who was suffering from illness, found Sun Hong, and after being treated by him, his condition improved. Out of gratitude, Yin Qiang helped Sun Hong promote his services.
Two years ago, Sun Hong opened a candle shop and Yin Qiang, Wang An, and Wu Ming became his apprentices. The number of people seeking Sun Hong's help increased, allowing him to earn over a million yuan annually.
With more money, Sun Hong also gained more friends. Regardless of who borrowed money from him, he would generously lend it. He spent over 30,000 yuan to buy a QQ car for his apprentice Yin Qiang to run as a taxi. Although Sun Hong had done favors for his apprentices, their frequent visits caused resentment among his wife.
Gradually, the apprentices visited less often. Sun Hong warned them that if they didn't obey, he would perform rituals to make their families fall ill or suffer calamities. This malicious tactic effectively made the apprentices follow his commands. Not long after taking on Wang An as an apprentice, Sun Hong used both kindness and coercion to force Wang An into having sexual relations with him.
In early February this year, all four members of the master-apprentice group were sentenced for committing rape. Sun Hong was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. Yin Qiang and Wu Ming received sentences of two and a half years each, while Wang An was sentenced to one and a half years in prison.
