Drooling over the video mirroring feature of the iPad 2 but don't want to discard your first-generation iPad, which has only been with you for less than a year? Now, after achieving a perfect jailbreak using Redsn0w, you can easily enable the mirroring function on your original iPad in just a few steps. First, you need to jailbreak your iPad and then modify some system files to activate video mirroring. You can refer to our site's Redsn0w perfect jailbreak tutorial (click to transfer).
Once the jailbreak is successful:
- Use a tool to locate system/library/coreservices/springboard.app
- Download the K48AP.plist file to your computer
- As shown in the figure below, add the string "display-mirroring boolean YES"
- Upload the modified system file back to the iPad (this step can be done using tools like Cyberduck, and ensure that your iPad has OpenSSH installed). Then, restart your iPad.
- At this point, you will still need to purchase a VGA or Digital AV adapter to use the video mirroring feature.
It has been tested that Apple's adapters work, but the response speed is slower than that of the iPad 2, possibly due to the first-generation iPad's RAM and processor not being able to keep up.
