The body of the grandmother was found in the fire. The tragedy happened at No. 63 Yonglong South Second Alley, Yongguang Village, Huadong Town. When the reporter arrived at the scene, there was a large pool of blood remaining at the kitchen door, with drag marks two or three meters long. In the room next to the kitchen, the clothes and furniture were burned, and it was pitch black inside. Nearby villagers said that around midnight on the day before the incident, multiple fire trucks arrived with sirens that woke many villagers.
"The fire was big, and so was the smoke. Many villagers participated in putting out the fire." Villagers told reporters that the rescue vehicles, including police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances, formed a long queue. Half an hour later, the fire was extinguished, and the firefighters discovered a body while clearing the scene.
After confirmation by the police, the body was identified as Grandma Hou, the homeowner. There were signs of arson at the scene, and her granddaughter Wang, who lived with Grandma Hou, had disappeared, making her a major suspect.
"Hou Grandma was killed by her granddaughter Xiaoqing who is in junior three, then the house was set on fire to destroy the evidence," said the villagers on site. "She killed her grandmother first, then wrapped her in a mat, after which she set the house on fire. She also slashed her grandmother's neck with several cruel cuts."
"Maybe they fought over pocket money," according to the villagers. At the time, the kitchen was full of scattered coins - fifty cents, one yuan, five yuan, ten yuan - all over the floor. "If they had given her the money then, this might not have happened."

On January 29, Guangzhou Huadu police reported that at 23:48 on January 28, the Huadu police received an emergency call reporting a residential fire in Yongguang Village, Huadong Town. At 00:30 on January 29, the fire was extinguished, and the police found the body of the female homeowner Grandma Hou inside the house. There were signs of arson at the scene. At around 3:00 AM on January 29, the police arrested the suspect Wang on Xiuquan Road in Xinhua Street.
According to Wang's confession: Her grandmother Grandma Hou was very nagging and often caused conflicts with her. On the day of the incident, after being scolded by her grandmother, they argued and pushed each other. Wang pushed Grandma Hou down and strangled her to death.
