Richard Wallace piled up a massive heap of garbage in his own garden, visible from space (screenshot) International Online Exclusive: According to the British Daily Mail on December 20th, British man Richard Wallace has a serious hoarding problem. He piled up so much garbage in his own garden that it could be seen from space, which greatly angered his neighbors. However, when the local government demanded that he clean up the garbage, he sued them to protect his "rights." Surprisingly, he even won the case. Finally, the court ruled in favor of Wallace, stating that "current evidence is insufficient to prove that Wallace's use of assets interferes with others' lives." As a result, he received £250 (approximately RMB 2500) in compensation for photocopying and internet fees. In May 2009, senior enforcement official Robert Primrose of the local planning department required Wallace to clear the garbage based on the Town and Country Planning Act. However, Primrose clearly underestimated Wallace's determination to protect his "property," as he sued the local government, claiming that piling up garbage on his own land was his "right." Wallace is 61 years old and resides in Westcott Village, Surrey, UK. Over the years, due to his habit of collecting items, he earned the nickname "Stig of the Dump." Westcott Village is known for its beautiful scenery, and the villagers are very passionate about environmental protection. However, in his million-pound home, Wallace piled up a massive heap of garbage visible from space, containing six scrapped cars, numerous empty beverage bottles, office desks and chairs, folding strollers, waterproof canvas, and old gates among other waste materials.
