At around 10 a.m. on July 9, 2008, more than forty party member officers and detoxification experts from the Shanghai Public Security Bureau's Compulsory Detoxification Center, led by Commissioner Jiang and Director Li, visited the National Research Center for Engineering Technology in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and other public technical platforms with great respect for the treasures of TCM in our country.
They were warmly welcomed by the leaders of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, the Shanghai Center for the Promotion of Science and Technology Industry in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the National Research Center for Engineering Technology in TCM Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, and Shanghai TCM Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd.
Director Zhu Zhenghong of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission and the Shanghai Center for the Promotion of Science and Technology Industry in Traditional Chinese Medicine delivered an enthusiastic speech at the welcoming ceremony, expressing heartfelt gratitude and warm welcome to the leaders and experts of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau's Compulsory Detoxification Center, who braved the scorching heat to visit the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park in celebration of the 87th anniversary of the founding of the great Communist Party of China, for jointly celebrating the Party's birthday and building harmonious relations between police and civilians.
At the same time, he congratulated the Shanghai Public Security Bureau's Compulsory Detoxification Center, which is the only compulsory detoxification center in Shanghai, for being rated as a national first-class compulsory detoxification center by the Ministry of Public Security, having received a collective second-class merit once, a collective third-class merit once, and multiple honors such as "Advanced Collective Striving for People's Satisfaction" and "Advanced Group in Shanghai's Anti-Drug Work." He expressed admiration and extended warm congratulations to them. He sincerely hoped that both sides would strengthen cooperation, enhance contact, closely cooperate, actively carry out scientific research, and jointly work for the great cause of anti-drug and detoxification that benefits the country and its people.
Director Shen Pingniang of the National Research Center for Engineering Technology in TCM Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and General Manager of Shanghai TCM Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. introduced the basic situation of the national public technical platform for modernization of TCM and presented an academic report titled "Advantages and Characteristics of TCM in Detoxification."
In her report, Director Shen introduced some major research projects of recent years and the preparatory work for upcoming major scientific research projects on the national public technical platform for modernization of TCM. She listed significant discoveries and achievements of TCM in detoxification, which were warmly welcomed and approved by the officers and experts of the detoxification center.
After the meeting, the officers and detoxification experts of the Shanghai Compulsory Detoxification Center visited in batches the pilot production base of the "National Research Center for Engineering Technology in TCM Pharmaceutical Manufacturing," the "Shanghai TCM Innovation Park Laboratory," and the "Shanghai TCM Museum."
Through the visit and study, the officers and detoxification experts deeply realized that the treasure of traditional Chinese medicine has unique efficacy and characteristics in detoxification, especially in preventing relapse and improving delayed symptoms, possibly surpassing current Western medicine without addiction, with a longer stabilization period for detoxification treatment and relatively stable effects. The development and application of TCM in detoxification are imperative.
