1. Learning that I am going to restart Hongtao Software, Lei Jun, the vice chairman of Kingsoft, sent his congratulatory message saying "Great men will always emerge from the test of time. Wish Brother Hongchao a great success with Hongtao Software!" Thank you. 2. I am still not used to Lei Jun's new title, and I don't know if Lei Jun is used to it either. After leaving the front line of Kingsoft where he had been dedicated for more than ten years, becoming an investor, Lei Jun must have unprecedented feelings now. Has he adapted? 3. Over the past dozen years, I have met Lei Jun countless times. The most recent meeting was two months ago in a teahouse opposite Yanshan Grand Hotel. Lei Jun listened to me talk about my project, seriously took notes, mined the highlights, gave me advice, and helped me contact potential investors. My earliest memory of a deep exchange was one night more than ten years ago when Lei Jun, who had just finished celebrating the Spring Festival in his hometown in Hubei and was driving back to Beijing via Zhengzhou, called me and said "It's too late, and it's not convenient to meet, so let's chat on the phone for a while." Compared to the Lei Jun depicted by the media, these "two" Lei Juns are so tangible. 4. Over the past dozen years, I have shared the same feelings and joys as Lei Jun as fellow software professionals, but there have also been misunderstandings and disagreements caused by communication barriers. But all of that is in the past. When I received Lei Jun's congratulatory message, I was moved, deeply moved. 5. Although Lei Jun once told the media several years ago that "my software sales method, like selling cabbages, was learned from Du Hongchao," today's Lei Jun, with the achievements he has gained after over a decade of training at Kingsoft, has reached a level that makes me look up to him. Can a software company achieve the same success as Kingsoft under Lei Jun's leadership? In Lin Xinglu's congratulatory message, he said, "Kingsoft has already gone public, and Hongtao is making a comeback." This sentence exerts a tremendous pressure. Lei Jun no longer needs anything else to prove his success, but I not only need others to prove it, but also need to prove myself with new results. 6. A few days ago, Ding Kai humorously said, "The secret to longevity is: keep breathing, don't stop." According to this logic, the secret to success for a software company is: keep creating new things, and be able to sell them. For a business to survive and make profits, it must continue, and the same goes for a software company. Lei Jun could stay at Kingsoft for over a decade because Kingsoft remained alive and became better and better. Kingsoft's journey from near extinction to going public and now being full of passion again is undoubtedly the result of everyone at Kingsoft's efforts, but primarily due to the persistence of Qiu Bojun and Lei Jun. 7. In 2000, Lei Jun said something in Zhengzhou that deeply shocked me: "There are so many excellent talents in Zhengzhou's software circle, but they cannot accomplish great things, mainly because there is a lack of leaders with charisma." At that time, my inner feeling was humiliation, shame, and inability to accept it. Time flies, and I should honestly and openly admit that the reality is indeed true! If I want to revitalize Hongtao Software and, as Peng Jie, the founder of my former competitor and now friend Jingwei Software Company, put it in his congratulatory message, "continue writing the chapter of Central Plains software with Hongtao Software," the main issue is to enhance my own charisma. 8. Lei Jun is an outstanding person in many ways, but Kingsoft's success comes from him replicating his excellence to many others and being good at discovering other people's excellence. Everyone has a personal heroism complex, but abandoning self-interest for the greater good is a true hero. This is the insight Lei Jun has given me, and I must remember it. 9. Compared to how I have always regarded Wang Jiangmin as my teacher and elder brother, I admire Wang Jiangmin even more because he has truly achieved many things that his peers and people in similar difficult situations could not. Comparatively speaking, Lei Jun is my peer, and what I feel towards him is not reverence but intimacy and the belief that I can surpass him. To me, this idea is neither right nor wrong. 10. Regardless of whether it is right or wrong, Lei Jun is both the role model I need to learn from and the target I need to surpass. Brother Lei Jun, you have given me the strength to learn from you and surpass you!
