Since I started earning my own salary, I've been thinking that I should visit at least one city every year, whether it's for working in a new city or just traveling. By now, I've visited quite a few cities and can say that I've barely achieved my goal. Whenever I arrive in a new city, the two places I always try to visit are the local church and cemetery. Of course, there are times when I miss them. I feel that these two places are the most bustling and tranquil spots in a city. I am an atheist and do not believe in ghosts and spirits, but I respect the deceased. So, when facing rows of tombstones in a cemetery, I feel a deep reverence for those who have passed on. Even if someone has done evil deeds in their lifetime, after death, they are nothing more than a stone slab and a handful of yellow earth. At this moment, all the negative feelings accumulated in my heart instantly vanish, achieving about sixty percent of my goal to relax. Then, I look for a church (so far, every city I've visited still has one). As mentioned above, I don't believe in any gods or spirits, but I admire devout believers. My mother is one of them; she has been a devout Jehovah's Witness since I was a child. Although I haven't always respected the Holy Spirit and the Son, my mother's piety still moves me. Watching believers sing hymns of praise to the suffering Christ fulfills the remaining forty percent of my relaxation goal. This year, I haven't had the time yet. As the year comes to an end, I often feel that my forehead is dark and full of stagnant energy, so it's probably time for me to go again.
