In 2010, this meticulous "post-80s" girl also took advantage of an opportunity provided by the Gansu Blood Center to hold a blood donor gathering event. She left her QQ number for donors with the same blood type and created a QQ group - "Panda Home" - to provide services through the internet.
Initially, "Panda Home" had only about ten members, mainly netizens with RH negative A type blood. Now it has increased to around 30 people, not only including RH negative A type but also RH negative B type and O type blood netizens. Additionally, there are several staff members from the Gansu Blood Center, making it an important work platform for them.
Zhou Xiaojian's most recent blood donation was on September 25th of this year when a pregnant woman with the same rare blood type needed blood reserves before delivery. The blood center contacted Zhou Xiaojian by phone, and she readily agreed.
After learning about her blood type, Zhou Xiaojian was somewhat surprised, but it did not affect her continued blood donations.
"Panda Home," is the QQ group she created. Through this group, she continues what she considers as "ordinary matters," helping others while also helping herself.
"This process is more complicated than donating whole blood and takes longer, requiring over an hour. Although I have donated whole blood multiple times, this was my first time donating platelets by machine. At the time, I was somewhat afraid, and due to nervousness, I experienced some discomfort during the collection process, but I still persisted," said Zhou Xiaojian.
Zhou Xiaojian's blood type is RH negative A. Xue Shuanglin, director of the Blood Source Recruitment Department at the Gansu Blood Center, introduced that in the Han population, only 3‰ of people have RH negative blood type. Considering the approximate ratio of A, B, O, and AB types as 3:3:3:1, if both ABO and RH blood type systems are considered together, then in the Han population, people with a blood type like Zhou Xiaojian's make up only a few out of ten thousand.
3‰, this is the proportion of her rare blood type among the Han population. If further distinguished by A, B, O, and AB types, it is a probability of a few out of ten thousand.
In her work, she is just a small employee; in life, she is an unremarkable young woman. However, such an ordinary person has pure kindness and beauty flowing in her blood, and her blood is given freely, her kindness without seeking any return. It is precisely because of this that she has moved many netizens.
"Panda Home," is the QQ group she created. Through this group, she continues what she considers as "ordinary matters," helping others while also helping herself.
However, Wang Shuisan, a blood source recruiter, knows that the "ordinary matters" mentioned by the plain-spoken and reticent Zhou Xiaojian are far from ordinary. Every drop of rare blood she donates is invaluable for those critically ill strangers, something that no amount of gold or silver can replace. There have been several times when patients were on the brink of death, waiting for her emergency help.
Zhou Xiaojian weighs about 50 kilograms. Nang Dangbin, deputy director of the Component Collection Department at the Gansu Blood Center, told reporters that according to her body type, the total volume of blood Zhou Xiaojian has donated over the past 11 years exceeds the total amount of blood currently flowing in her body.
She has saved many unknown lives but has never contacted those she has helped.
Zhou Xiaojian's first blood donation was in 2000 when she was only 19 years old and studying at a vocational school in Gansu Province.
At that time, this simple young woman from the countryside did not know that her blood type was the rare RH negative. It wasn't until 2007, when the Gansu Blood Center organized a donor gathering, that she learned she had a special and rare blood type.
Online, a netizen named lyqsdcn commented: "An ordinary girl, a great girl, this is what a beautiful girl looks like!" Another netizen "An Yi Xiao Jia" said: "You are an angel with a smile, deeply blessed, may you be happy and joyful!"
Because of more than ten无偿donations of "panda blood," after Zhou Xiaojian's story was disclosed, many media outlets and netizens online hailed her as the "Panda Girl." However, in her personal view, this was just an "ordinary matter." She said: "I have this resource, can help others, and it doesn't harm myself. Why not do it?"
Zhou Xiaojian said: "Everyone being healthy is the most ideal state. But in reality, people always suffer from various diseases and calamities. Establishing such a QQ group allows for another way to seek help when someone is in trouble. Chatting together in daily life can also promote mutual assistance."
"To avoid worrying my parents, I generally don't tell them about donating blood," Zhou Xiaojian said, "but I understand that as long as I follow the relevant regulations at the blood center's donation site, it will not cause any harm to my body. After so many donations, I haven't felt any discomfort yet. As long as someone needs it and my physical condition permits, I think I will continue."
Later, she put aside her work and went to the blood center for a physical examination. After passing the physical examination, she went to donate blood the next morning. This was her first and so far the only component donation, donating one unit of platelets. In the warm service of the staff, her blood flowed through a closed blood cell separator, and after circulation, the required platelets were separated.
3‰, this is the proportion of her rare blood type among the Han population. If further distinguished by A, B, O, and AB types, it is a probability of a few out of ten thousand.
"Among all the blood donors, she is not the one who has donated the most times or the largest volume, but her blood is precious because of its rarity and often saves lives," Wang Shuisan said, "What moves me even more is that she does not refuse or reduce donations because of her rare blood type. On the contrary, she is more like a 'firefighter,' always responding whenever we call, sometimes we even hesitate to summon her, wanting to save her for the most critical moments."
Wang Shuisan is the deputy director of the Blood Source Recruitment Department at the Gansu Blood Center. Zhou Xiaojian established a deep friendship with Wang Shuisan through multiple blood donations and donor gatherings.
"Helping others is also helping oneself," Wang Shuisan said, "In the long run, whether it is donating blood or creating a QQ group for rare blood type individuals, Zhou Xiaojian helps others while also increasing her own insurance in life."

For 11 years, she has donated over 4000 milliliters of blood, becoming a "firefighter" for blood donations.
Over 4000 milliliters, this is the amount of blood she has donated for free over 11 years, exceeding the total amount of blood currently flowing in her body.
Zhou Xiaojian's family is not affluent; her parents are farmers, and she has two younger sisters and a younger brother. After graduation, she worked at a private book distribution company with modest income. However, she has never thought of using her rare blood type to gain anything for herself. She has even never actively contacted those whose bodies flow with her rare blood.
Zhou Xiaojian's first donation of machine-collected platelets originated from a critically ill patient urgently needing an infusion of A-type RH-negative platelets. It was one afternoon in October 2008 when she received a call from a stranger while working. She hesitated but agreed immediately after confirming that the number was provided by the Gansu Blood Center and consented to donate machine-collected platelets.
"So far, only one patient who received my blood has contacted me. I don't know who the others are, nor do I want to contact them. I don't want them to feel burdened, thinking they owe me a favor," Zhou Xiaojian said, "I just did something 'ordinary.' I don't want to help others a little and then expect them to help me or thank me."
"She has always kept in touch with us. Any changes in accommodation, work address, especially mobile phone numbers, are actively informed to us, fearing that we might lose contact with her," Wang Shuisan said, "We once built a database incorporating 600 people like Zhou Xiaojian with RH-negative blood types, but more than half are now difficult to reach."
Now talking about all this, Zhou Xiaojian sounds very relaxed, but it was her first time. Watching her fresh red blood flow through different transparent plastic tubes into three sealed plastic bags, and then part of the blood flowing back into her body, staying calm was hard, and all this was for a complete stranger she had never met before and might never contact in the future.

Repeated blood donations by her daughter inevitably caused concern for her parents. Like most parents, Zhou Xiaojian's parents, due to limited knowledge about blood donation, worried about their daughter's nutrition and were not very supportive of her repeated blood donations.
Xinhua News Agency, Lanzhou, November 14 (reporter Zhu Guoliang, Huang Wenxin) Over 4000 milliliters, this is the amount of blood she has donated for free over 11 years, exceeding the total amount of blood currently flowing in her body.
Zhou Xiaojian, an ordinary "post-80s" girl, weighing only about 50 kilograms, has accumulated over 4000 milliliters of "panda blood" donations, a girl with kindness and beauty flowing and passing through her blood. Online, she is known as the most beautiful "panda girl."
Zhou Xiaojian joked that her main task now is to get married. The management and expansion of the QQ group still need the help of the Gansu Blood Center staff. However, even after getting married and having children, as long as conditions permit, her personal blood donation journey will continue.
"My first blood donation was aimless, not responding to anyone's call. It was just listening to classmates who had donated blood saying that as long as certain conditions were met, one could donate blood, so I went," Zhou Xiaojian recalled.
Records from the Gansu Blood Center show that this was her 14th blood donation in 11 years, with 13 whole blood donations and 1 machine-collected platelet donation, accumulating over 4000 milliliters of blood donations so far.
Creating "Panda Home," she helps others and helps herself.
