In the content about youth development training, many situations are related to the parents of problematic children. Beijing Development Training Company believes that these problem children have a direct relationship with the excessive demands of their parents. Many parents have the desire for their children to become successful, which is a common wish for all parents around the world. However, we need to focus on methods and not be too clingy or overly strict in disciplining our children, otherwise it may backfire.
If parents cannot let go of everything and always help their children with things they can do themselves, the children will gradually lose their self-care abilities and struggle with personal chores. In others' eyes, the child might seem like an idiot in terms of daily life skills, which could lead to feelings of inferiority. Another point is being too harsh on children. Most often, this manifests as excessive pressure on academics. Some parents enroll their children in five extracurricular classes, leaving them with almost no time for entertainment apart from regular school hours. The child's brain remains in a constant state of tension, and the mental strain is too tight. This makes both the child and the parents very tired, physically and mentally like a fully wound clock, constantly running. Over time, the child loses the joy of childhood and may develop resistance. Perhaps, due to parental coercion, these negative emotions accumulate over time, eventually leading to problems.
There are two possible outcomes: first, learning everything but mastering nothing, resulting in mediocrity across the board. Second, the child develops depression. Do not put too much pressure on your children to avoid unnecessary tragedies. There are many such examples, here I will mention one case to illustrate. On March 31, 2011 at 8:30 PM, Wang, who had been studying in Japan for five years, arrived at Shanghai Pudong Airport on flight NH921 from Tokyo. At Terminal 2, he got into an argument with his mother Gu over financial disputes. During the argument, 23-year-old Wang suddenly pulled out a sharp knife from his luggage and stabbed his mother nine times, causing multiple internal organ ruptures including her stomach and liver, leaving her unconscious. Wang was immediately arrested by airport police, and Gu was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment. She was later determined to have suffered serious injuries.
After the incident, the public security authorities commissioned the Judicial Appraisal Science and Technology Research Institute to conduct a psychiatric evaluation on Wang. On June 16, the institute issued its appraisal opinion: Wang suffers from schizophrenia. According to the mother, the family had put a lot of pressure on the child from a young age. His father had high expectations, and if his academic performance wasn't good, he would often beat and scold him. As a result, during his childhood, he spent weekends at his aunt's house to escape his father's strict control. Excessive discipline led to cracks in the child's mental health, manifesting as a disease.
Therefore, disciplining children requires appropriate methods. Apart from regular courses, choosing one or two activities that interest the child is beneficial. Enrolling the child in a training class to enrich their extracurricular life is good, but don't push too hard. Give the child time to play and return to them a happy childhood. Appropriately educate the child about labor awareness, teaching them to handle their own affairs and improve their practical skills. This greatly benefits the child's physical and mental health. Become friends with your child, correctly guide their study and life, and avoid putting unbearable pressure on them. Let the child grow up healthily and happily!
